Foxy Bingo - online casino review

First Impressions & Ease Of Sign up

I missed the TV adverts, but if I'm not certain, there's a big 'As Seen On TV' splashed across the page to remind. Mr Foxy himself is quite a strange looking fellow, like something you'd expect to be giving young children nightmares in adult life, but hey - it's distinctive. This is another Globalcom based site, so after my recent reviews of other Globalcom sites, I was not expecting a lot.

However, it's wrong to judge before you've given it a go, and I'm pleased to say they've obviously put a bit of effort into their implementation of the platform. It looks like there's been a bit of thought gone into the design, and there's lots of extra stuff around the site - fun pages, clear info and everything you need to know is close at hand and easy to find.

Sign up is straight forward, however, you do have to give them your credit card details as you sign up - I'd like to do that at a later date when I'm ready to fund the account. A minor quibble - there aren't many other sites that will not allow you to get an account before giving your credit card. That done - it's easy to jump into the Bingo.

Sign-Up Bonuses

Foxy are unusual for a Globalcom site in that they double the free bonus for new sign-ups giving you the equivalent of £2's worth of free play. This possibly explains the need to give your credit card at the sign-up stage, but none the less is a welcome treat to give you a taste before you even pay them money.

I hoped this breaking from the norm would continue with the sign-up bonus level - however, no luck there - you have to put a minimum of £20 to get the 100% match-bonus. I'm not a fan of this as like most people, I like to start with a minimum deposit as I like to try before I commit a larger sum.

Ease Of Use

Kudos to Foxy - they have pin-pointed a number of the problems with their Globalcom platform and improved them to improve usability for their users. The games are clearly labeled from the lobby, so it's easy to see the 90 ball rooms. They have 2 90 ball rooms for fans of the UK game.

The misleading wording has been changed so you're told the price is by ticker rather than card, and the tickets actually look like proper tickets and as a result, are easier to look at and follow. They've changed the colour schemes, improved the layout of the chat and made the control buttons a lot bigger and apparent.

These improvements add a lot to the playability of their offering, but there are still many flaws, which are the limitations of their platform. Still no feedback on the money your about to spend, no auto sort and numbers to bingo. Buying future games is not possible, and the price of tickets varies from great value to silly prices.

Mercifully, they've set the game up so there's a pause between the lines and the house prizes - one of the biggest problems I had with the other Globalcom offerings was the non-stop games - great to see them pause here. Whilst they're hampered by this software, it shows their commitment to the game and their players that they have tried to make their games as easy to play as possible.

Community Spirit

Foxy appear to have their own pool of players, unlike other Globalcom sites I've played where you get a pool shared amongst all the players on that network, whatever site they entered the game from. People were nice and friendly, there were obviously regulars in there who knew each other well - a good mix of Bingo fans.

The CMs were around and helpful - the improved chat layout helps a lot, but the window is still very small - when the CMs drop a big Lucky Dust post, everything you were reading shoots of the screen which is a bit annoying.

The community in the game is bolstered by all the community content on the site - this is a real plus for Foxy Bingo - they've put a lot of effort into things like horoscopes and Player Profiles. In fact, you can earn an extra £5 to play with if your a player and submit a player profile. Nice touch.

Prize Money

There were some great value 10p games - weekend late evenings there were around 50 players in, it was around the £9 line & 2 lines, £20 for the full house. What you'd expect with that many players and at that price range.

Like the rest of the Globalcom network they offer a jackpot of 1 million on their special games. They make a big promotion of this as do all the sites in the network. Check the small print though - you won't get a cool £1,000,000 in your bank. You'll get £33,000 a year for 30 years. Not the same thing really - and what happens if they go bust after 10 years - will you still get the money? This is not a just a Foxy Bingo issue, the other network sites I've seen keeps that fact in the Terms and Conditions.

Security

Sign up was fine, although I've already mentioned problems with the fact you need to give you credit card details straight away. It's padlocked where you'd expect it to be padlocked and the range of pay options are the standard for Globalcom. Once again, they do insist on sending your password along with your username - which is not great security.

Overall Feel At FoxyBingo.co.uk

Despite being hindered by the Globalcom platform and it's limitations, they have actually put some work and thought into their styling of it and tried to make the platform as easy as possible for the users. There's a lot of stuff to commended them on as well - the funhouse section shows they're trying to build a genuine community feel and going above and beyond the standard Bingo offering.

For the future they should consider losing the Globalcom software - even with all the work they've put into improving the user experience of the software. The analogy of polishing a turd springs to mind - if they're genuinely user focused, they'll go that extra mile and upgrade to a more user friendly platform. It's the extra offerings that have lifted Foxy above the other Globalcom sites in our reviews section.
